Safelog Pilot Logbook App Reviews

3 Customer Reviews:

I’ve used the software for about 5 years now. I love being able to track my flights and all the reports generated are excellent. I am a civilian aviator but just switched over to military flying and SafeLog is able to accomodate both types of flying. Highly customizable and great features and updates. Customer for life!

Safelog is rich in features, and hard on the eyes. The look and feel are extremely dated and don’t reflect any attention to user interface elegance. Hopefully the developer will hire an an amzing interface designer to put a great face on their solid back-end tech.

I have been a customer of Safelog since 1998. I admit that I am not the most tech savvy individual. I was using the program as a back up to my paper log books. I am a corporate pilot flying quite regularly. I was using an older PC with this program but just upgraded to a Mac. I had a bit of difficulty converting the program to my new computer. I was pleasantly surprised that I received a call back from one of the owners of the company within about 10 minutes of my posted question. He spent about 20 minutes with me to help with the conversion. The process was really easy but I also learned that I can log flights using my iPhone and Mac and they automatically sync. My interest is that the program is user friendly and that customer support is available. This company has exceeded my expectations. This has truely been a great purchase for me. Thank you safelog!!

Great Customer service

This is the best logbook on the market and the best customer service available. I have found a few bugs in the past year and withen the same day that it is reported they respond with a work around and then promptly update the app or program. Thanks for all your hard work on Safelog.

Performs better than expected

10/2019: I’m a long time user on Mac/iPad/iPhone. My experience has been great. I really like the security of having log information on several platforms AND the ability to make local backups. Support has always been helpful. The filter and search functions save a lot of time summarizing categories or finding entries. Frankly, I’m not sure why anyone still uses handwritten logs. Update 11/2020: This is the real deal. It is a rare example of software that exceeds expectations. I emailed a question to the developers this week - it was resolved within a couple of hours. Outstanding customer support. I can update my log on my phone immediately after I shut down. Once synched, it appears on my iPad and iMac. I’m a big fan.

Old Timer

I am using this program to digitize my flight time. The program is awesome but, as an Old Pilot, I am finding it difficult to find airports from 1960's because they no longer exsist. I took my first flight in August of 1960 in a "Super Cub" and retired from TWA in 1999. Being able to put your info on the cloud is really special. Nothing like this was available even when I retired.

Fantastic e-Logbook

I started using SafeLog for PC in 2009 when I was a full-time flight instructor and was really impressed with the features and interface. At the time is was just a stand-alone program. It is far more than just a logbook; it tracks currency (day, night, IFR, carrying pax, 135, 121, etc.). I then started flying corporate jets and really started utilizing many other features of the software such as filtering flights for annual insurance forms that ask for all kinds of combinations of times (total complex, total turbine, tailwheel time, night instrument approaches, etc.). The filtering capabilities make finding those times very simple. Over the years, the software has evolved into a web-based program (yet still has PC, Mac, Android, iOS software/apps) which I really like because all of my data is sync'd and therefore backed-up to their servers. Once they went to web-based, the number of improvements and features increased exponentially. I am now in the 121 airline industry and primarily use the SafeLog iOS app to log all my flights. It can track Block Time, Duty Time, flight numbers, remembers the airport city pair for flight numbers, crew-members, plus many other airline specific features. I then sync my iPad app and everything appears on my SafeLog app on my MacBook. It all works seamlessly and works extremely well. The reports that are available to Save or Print are really powerful too. You can print Jeppesen style logbook pages, ASA style, and various other styles. They even have a report that formats your times for entering on AirineApps and PilotCredentials. Lastly, their Technical Support is fantastic. If you have any issues whatsoever, you can submit a support ticket on the website and you’ll get a response within 24 hours from a software engineer who is also a pilot! I recently asked about printing a report in a specific format and they did some software mods just to satisfy my request.

DONT Buy if you uses macOS Sierra

When macOS Sierra came out, Safelog died at startup. I filled out a request for service and they were working on it. Ok, but Apple puts out os betas just for this purpose. Again, ok, didn’t use the beta to test prior to macOS Sierra release. Now, Version 7.4.1 comes out for macOS Sierra compatibility, and again, product (7.4.1) dies at startup on multiple macs (Macbook Pro and Mac Pro). Get a message ‘Working on it …’ Bottom line, product is useful when it works, but Mac support doesn’t seem to be a priority. Could give it more stars if it actually worked.
